A Fresh Take on Astrology for the Next Generation
The Goal
The vision for Lunar was to reimagine Vedic astrology for a new generation of users. Instead of overwhelming them with complex charts and unfamiliar terms, the goal was to translate astrology into a modern, playful, and wellness-driven experience that young audiences could easily understand and enjoy.
At its core, Lunar aimed to bridge cultural gaps by keeping the essence of Vedic insights while presenting them through a youthful, engaging interface. The app was designed to feel less like a traditional astrology tool and more like a daily companion for reflection, connection, and self-discovery.

The Challenge
How can we simplify Vedic astrology for young global users without losing its authenticity?
The biggest hurdle was simplifying Vedic astrology for young global users without losing its authenticity. Complex terms like Panchang or Kundali needed to be reimagined in a modern, relatable way.
Another challenge was balancing tone. The brand had to feel credible and trustworthy while also staying playful and engaging for Gen Z.

Research
To ground the concept, we began by exploring the roots of Vedic astrology. We studied how it places the moon sign at the center. To bring in a broader lens, we compared Vedic principles with Western astrology.
What made this research engaging was talking to actual users. We interviewed a small group of young people who regularly follow astrology, asking them what feels authentic, what feels confusing, and how they use astrology apps in their daily lives.
Top 3 findings were:
Identity - Young people use astrology to express their personality and individuality.
Compatibility - The biggest curiosity lies in checking relationship and friendship matches.
Guidance - Daily horoscopes and rituals provide comfort and a sense of control.
I’d actually
use an astrology app if it felt real and trustworthy, not scammy or full of random jargon.
It has to look and feel like it’s made for our generation, not like those old-school horoscope sites.
If I can chat with a consultant on trial before paying, I’m way more likely to stick around.
Just give me astrology that’s simple and easy to follow.
Competitor insights
Competitor research revealed what engages Gen Z and what turns them away. This guided us to shape Lunar as a modern, playful, and easy-to-use astrology app.

Inconsistent tone : Co-Star often feels negative, Kismet feels too casual.
Limited trust factor : casual or generic predictions reduce credibility.
Poor adaptability for non-astrology audiences : jargon-heavy or culture-specific language.

Gems of Destiny reveals your life, fortunate, and lucky stone based on your birth details, helping users connect with the symbolic power of gemstones in a simple way.
By keeping the interface minimal and visually rich, the feature feels both mystical and easy to explore.
Each card uses illustrations and simple text to bring the planets to life in a way that resonates with young users.

Abhijeet Muhurat (Auspicious Time)
Celestial Clock transforms one of the most complex Vedic concepts i.e muhurats like Hora, Abhijeet, and Rahukaal into Lunar’s most approachable and practical feature. It gives users live guidance on what to do or avoid at any given moment.
A clean clock interface combined with start and end times for each muhurat makes the feature simple enough for anyone to use, even without prior astrology knowledge.

We designed it with a playful card-swipe interaction to keep the feature light and engaging, making luck checks feel like a quick, enjoyable ritual.

We used a clean playlist-style interface with names like “Healing” or “Morning Frequency,” and a simple player screen with calming visuals.

The Moon Sign Report gives users a deeper look into their emotional world, explaining how their moon sign influences personality, feelings, and behavior.
A clean card layout with concise text makes complex emotional insights easy to read, while playful illustrations add warmth and relatability.
The Ascendant Report focuses on how users project themselves to the world, breaking down traits, ruling planets, and elements for quick self-discovery.
We combined icons, keywords, and a clear “good stuff vs. needs work” list, making the report scannable and instantly useful for young users who prefer quick takeaways over long reads.
